25th Goleniow’s Theater Meetings BRAMAT 2024

Bramat is celebrating 25 years this year. Is that a lot? Many of the co-organizers don’t even have that many. We ourselves can’t believe that year after year we expose ourselves to this madness, trying to organize yet bigger and bigger event. For us, Bramat is one of the most important points in Brama’s life. It is during the festival that we can prove ourselves, we can meet with the locals and all our friends and welcome them to our home – Goleniów.

This year’s Bramat is over 40 events open to the public in various locations in Goleniów. We have prepared a very diverse mix – intimate monodramas, large outdoor shows, concerts where you can get emotional or sweaty, workshops, performance activities, DJ sets, discussions, an exhibition and many other hidden and spontaneous actions. Bramat is an intercultural meeting place where the local and European worlds collide. It can’t be done without Bramat. 

As every year, our doors are open to you. It is with you that we want to create our memories, host artists, talk and live artistic experiences.

4:00 PM Ladder Art Company (HU), HYBADU (PL), La Transplanisphere (FR) – „2084”

Ladder Art started working on this performance before Bramat a year ago – this year they completed it. The performance is about the near future. In 2084, animals on a raft built from garbage escape from a climate-ravaged Earth. 

5:30 PM Opening of the outdoor exhibition “Traces” with a walk and discussion

Artists, Aliz Gyori and Marcin Salwin, imagine life in 2084 and try to commemorate the animals that are now close to extinction in the area and will probably be extinct by then. 

Using waste materials to build memorials to these animals the artists place them all over the town of Goleniow. 

7:00 PM Konstantinos Tsonopoulos and Efthimis Christou (Athens, GR) – “Epekina: The way down”

Experience a solo performance of self-discovery directed by Efthimis Christou and performed by Konstantinos Tsonopoulos. Journey into the shadows and back into the light in this introspective exploration.

Theatrical-musical showcase of the work of the Teatr Brama youth group, prepared by Daniel Jacewicz. Get to know the most rebellious team in our Theater and discover their fears and dreams.

10:00 PM Baklava Klezmer Soul (Cuneo, IT)

Baklava Klezmer Soul’s music is perfectly summed up by their name. In fact, it is a band that, by mixing different cultural ingredients as is done for the famous Eastern European dessert, mixes Klezmer music with different musical genres, giving life to a completely new sound.

DJ from Goleniów and a well-known in the local community culture animator. He refers to himself as a gogus, a shutterbug, and a self-aggrandizer. Deep in his heart is house music, but you can expect anything at his sets.

Tomi the clown once again at the Bramat! The favorite of children big and small is coming with a circus workshop for the whole family, which will finish with a foam party.

3:30 PM “Why Does the City Need a Festival?” – discussion panel

This year we are celebrating 25 years of the BRAMAT festival. Together we will discuss whether theater festivals are needed, how they affect local residents and what is the role of art in public space.

A fool sits on his baggage, a box full of dreams. Dreams of flying, and recipes for how to do it. He dances and sings his way into a magnificent universe.

 8:00 PM Franek Warzywa & Młody Budda (Warsaw, PL)

Franek Warzywa and Młody Budda (Frank Vegetables and Young Buddha) are the best Polish boy band, which combines the genres of hyperpop, jazz, techno, and post-punk. A must-see concert for any lover of fun and healthy lifestyle.

 “The Spaceboy Experience”, is a sensual audiovisual journey. Heavily danceable, technical, passionate and entertaining. The whole is complemented by the legendary Mr. Kleks and beautiful actors and dancers.

Sticks and Stones workshop is for the performer’s physical training which is a development of actions inspired by the use of an object with the discovery of an individual rhythm, spatial awareness and dynamism. 

11:00 AM Slam poetry workshop with Kolektyw Komitet  (Wrocław, PL)

During the workshop, participants will learn more about poetry slam, and create their own texts, which they will present publicly at the festival. One of the participants will become the First Goleniów Slam Master!

5:00 PM Common Ground (IT, DE, PL, ES) – “Motherland”

Motherland is a co-production of four European theaters – antagon theaterAKTion, Teatr Brama, Ondadurto Teatro and Piero Partigianoni. It was created as part of the Common Ground project and explores the relationship between humans and the space they inhabit.

Brama and Potlach have been friends and collaborators for several years. They have been united by singing together. Together they invite you to an evening journey through the musical traces of ancient Europe.

W i d e pants and broadly defined music. The musical experimentation we create dabbles in genres such as grunge/metal/punk/???. We come from the G town, where in underground conditions we formed our hatred of bike thieves.

8:00 PM Teatro Para el Fin del Mundo (MX, ES) – “Woman Fish”

This is the story of Yusra Mardini, a Syrian swimmer, who in August 2015

saved 19 Syrians from drowning aboard a fragile boat on the Aegean Sea.

9:00 PM Dasi 13 (Gori, GE) – “Synonyms”

The youth troupe „Synonyms” has gathered traditional Georgian stories and will present them to us in the form of a mini-performance. We will learn the story of a female king – Tamar – who held reign in the golden age of Georgia and was a highly successful ruler. She bore the magnificent title: „King of kings and queen of queens of the Abkhazians, Georgians, Rantas, Kakhtis and Armenians, Shirvans and Shahanshas, and the self-ownership of all the East and West.”

10:30 PM Tęgie Chłopy (Warsaw, PL)

The Tęgie Chłopy band continues the tradition of dance music of the Kielce region in its authentic and unstylized form. Repertoire and instrumentarium refers to the best models – traditional bands playing weddings and country parties in the past.

5:00 PM Residui Teatro (Madrid, ES) – “Penelope”

The second face of Odysseus’ journey is Penelope. She represents the other side of the Odyssey, the inner journey and waiting for the loved one, and she also shows us Penelope’s own journey in relation to Odysseus’ adventures.

Moreover, the myth of Penelope allows us to examine modern femininity

7:00 PM Teatro Tascabile di Bergamo (Bergamo, IT) – “The Yoricks – Comic Interlude”

Six clowns, six skeleton-monks, gather together with angels, lions and horses to turn death into a surreal circus. “The Yoricks” begins with a shoe that falls down from nowhere, perhaps from a human sky made up of bombing planes and war sirens, or perhaps from the upper floor.

Performance based on a poem by Iranian poet Reza Barahani dealing with the interplay between body and voice, exploring the potential of the two media.

Žarko Jovašević  and his eight amazing musicians from Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Turkey, Italy, Germany and the USA can’t wait to hit the stage and spread the gospel of Balkan music throughout the world.

12:30 AM BramaLAB: Mała Brama (Goleniów, PL) – „The duck seems depressed”

In a small town called Smalltown lives a unique species of golden-necked duck. The residents were proud of this attraction and enjoyed the fame and money it brought to their businesses.Until… The duck began to seem depressed.

Everything in the town turned upside down. Will a famous veterinarian – a specialist in animal psychology – find a cure for the duck?

2:00 PM Grupa Pomarańcze (Poznań, PL)  – “W nicość”

Maybe it’s time to have a revolution and turn the world upside down? Just whose – ours, or theirs? Or maybe the only salvation for “this” world is to abandon it in favor of another, created from scratch? We will let you into our world, but will you do the same?

5:00 PM Gruba i Głupia (Łódź PL, Bochum DE) – “Very Cheap”

In “Very Cheap,” Fat and Dumb are once again provocative: they explore the uneasiness between material survival and creative flourishing. In this quasi-erotic performative frolic, they also ironically disarm all expectations without embarrassment. Will they manage to repeat the success of “Very Funny”? Not likely.

6:30 PM Anna Januszewska (Szczecin, PL) – “Matka Putina”

The little-known story of Vera Nikolaevna Putina, who, contrary to the Kremlin’s official version, claims to be Vladimir Putin’s biological mother. In an emotional monologue, the elderly woman recounts the surprising events of her illegitimate son’s childhood years ago.
