Year 2010

Platform

Brama consistently engaged in significant partnership projects, including long-term collaboration with Expedition Metropolis Theater from Berlin. As part of this cooperation, the play Platform was created, exploring the themes of borders and borderlands. The inspiration for the piece came from Olga Tokarczuk’s novel House of Day, House of Night (Tokarczuk was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2018). The German premiere took place on September 25, 2010, in Berlin, while the Polish premiere followed on October 10 in Goleniów.

Shortly after the Polish premiere, the Polish-German ensemble embarked on an expedition to Peru, where they continued their work, incorporating the local context in collaboration with the socio-political Teatro Arena y Esteras. The expedition members performed in major centers such as Lima, as well as in Andean villages. During the journey, Brama also presented excerpts from My, Emotion in Sound, and Gas. Upon returning from South America, the group prepared a concert titled Inspired by the Journey, a name that aptly captures its essence.

The play was performed six times.

11th BRAMAT Festival

This year’s festival was made possible thanks to the generosity of the owners of the Rampa Music Station, who once again offered their venue for the event. The festival was modest, without a budget, and organized solely through the personal dedication of a handful of individuals, primarily the previous BRAMAT organizers led by Daniel Jacewicz.

The most notable highlight of this edition was Margarete, a performance by Janek Turkowski of Szczecin’s Teatr Kana, presented twice. Described by the creator as “the story of a few tapes,” the piece was a reflection on recording memories from the 1960s and 1970s.

Undeniably, the festival showed signs of decline this year due to various circumstances, one being that Teatr Brama had faded from Goleniów’s cultural landscape, with the group more frequently seen in other parts of the country or abroad. Daniel Jacewicz remarked at the time that this would likely be the last BRAMAT, as organizing such an event was impossible without Brama’s permanent presence in Goleniów and a strong, active community. However, no one anticipated that within a year, Brama would return and build its new home in the old amphitheater.
