Szczecin Film Festival on the road – Goleniów

SeFF on the Road

The OFFicyna Association has been organizing the Szczecin Film Festival for 19 years. This is a professional, recurring festival with a long-standing tradition and a stellar reputation, attracting filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts while promoting the region as open and supportive of valuable cinematic art.
One of the key elements of the Festival is the promotion and screenings of SeFF across the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.

The OFFicyna Association has been active in the fields of culture and education for over 25 years. It has organized festivals, cultural projects, workshops, debates, concerts, and exhibitions for a quarter of a century.
The Association focuses on moving away from classic artistic activity in favor of innovative methods of creativity (socio-artistic projects), utilizing film as a medium and engaging in activities in new media (virtual reality, home video, digital photography, holograms, and modern image and sound recording techniques).

This time, we will showcase the winning films of the Szczecin Film Festival 24 (our very own “SeFF on the Road”). These are the best films selected by the jury and audience.

Performed Reading: “Notes on Dying” by Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska’s death in 2025, a performed reading of the poet’s war-time diaries will be prepared. These diaries, written during the war and in exile, reveal a lesser-known side of the distinguished author.

The reading will be audiovisually recorded and will serve as the foundation for a series of events with the poet’s biographer, Rafał Podraza, including sessions in small towns.

Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska, a renowned poet and playwright of the interwar period, had to leave Poland with the outbreak of World War II. She eventually reached England with her husband, where, longing for her homeland and family, she wrote a diary. With striking imagery and stark honesty, she documented her daily struggles in exile and her battle with cancer.

Over a decade ago, Rafał Podraza, a researcher of the Kossak family’s history (Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska was the daughter of painter Wojciech Kossak and sister of writer Magdalena Samozwaniec), collected the poet’s unpublished diaries and published them as “Satan Spawned War: Notes 1939–1945.”

Years later, Podraza revisited this unique testament of one of Poland’s most significant 20th-century poets. Collaborating with Radio Szczecin, he re-edited the diaries to focus on her illness, suffering, and resilience, titling the work “Notes on Dying.”

The reading will be performed by Anna Januszewska, one of Szczecin’s most beloved actresses, whose sensitivity brings a new dimension to “Notes on Dying.” Accompanied by live music from Krzysztof Baranowski, the performance will be recorded and presented as a video. Following the screening, a discussion with the poet’s biographer will take place, aiming to reintroduce and revive awareness of this extraordinary artist among the Polish audience.
